I have been teaching group exercise for over a year now and I just love it. I had been working out for a couple of years, taking aerobic classes and lifting weights, and decided to take the courses that would get me on way to teaching group fitness. In January of 2002, I took the fitness knowledge course with Sue Luck-Claxton. It was after having great experience’s learning with someone that was so knowledgeable, that I thought, “what the heck, let’s go all the way”. So that’s what I decided to do! I continued on and became a Certified BCRPA Group Fitness Leader in the summer of 2002. Since then I been certified in Weight Training and will continue on to take the BCRPA Personal Trainer Course.
I learned the makings of No Sweat with Leanne Garriock’s help. I had attended a couple of Sue’s classes and really enjoyed it. Once I started working at No Sweat Fitness, the two of them had my life planned out! I was just pumped to do the classes and reap the rewards of feeling good and living a better life. After my first few weeks, I started seeing more definition, increased levels of energy and decreased levels of stress (okay, maybe a few aching muscles, but it was the good pain). Leanne was always there to give me that little extra “push” and the support I needed. Now that I am teaching No Sweat on a regular basis, I would honestly say that I would never turn back. My life has changed since No Sweat became apart of my everyday routine. I have Leanne and Sue to thank for giving me that opportunity and most of all; I have my participants to thank. Without them, there would me no ME. They have been supportive, patient, understanding and most of all accepting of who I am. Thanks guys, couldn’t have done it without you.
Coming up in the New Year, I will be offering a Turbo Kick class as part of the aerobic schedule. I am currently working on my home study and hope to be certified by early January 2004. Turbo Kick has only been offered in the United States, but through home study I am able to bring it up to Canada for the first time! Turbo Kick is a pre-choreographed kickboxing class that incorporates punches/kicks and cardiovascular conditioning developed by Chalene Johnson. Come on in and check it out, try something new and exciting.
